Dr. Wael A. Al-Dakroury is an internationally recognized speech-language pathologist whose career spans over three decades, blending clinical expertise, academic leadership, and global advocacy. He currently serves as Director of the Communication Disorders Department at Psych Care Complex and as an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Medicine, Alfaisal University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Dr. Al-Dakroury’s leadership extends globally. He was appointed by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) Board of Directors as ASHA International SLP Ambassador and elected to the Coordinating Committee for ASHA’s Special Interest Group 17, “Global Issues in Communication Sciences and Related Disorders.” He also serves as a member of the Child Language Committee of the International Association of Communication Sciences and Disorders (IALP) for the 2025–2031 term, and is the Honorary President of the Egyptian Association for Communication Sciences and Linguistics (EACSL).
Holding a master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from San Jose State University, California, and a Ph.D. from Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh, Dr. Al-Dakroury is a certified member of ASHA. His honors include ASHA’s Certificate of Recognition for Outstanding International Achievement (2023), ten consecutive ASHA ACE Awards (2007–2023), and election as an ASHA Fellow; the highest honor bestowed by the Association.
His research focuses on pragmatic disorders in children with ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder, and pediatric language disorders. A dedicated scholar, he serves as a reviewer for leading journals including JSLHR and AJSLP.
Bilingual and globally engaged, Dr. Al-Dakroury continues to shape the future of pediatric speech-language pathology through clinical excellence, scholarly contributions, and international collaboration.
